April 17, 2021: The actions of Major League Baseball (MLB) commissioner Rob Manfred deserve all the massive negative fall-out that has fallen on MLB over recent weeks. EA covered the details of Manfred’s outrageous decision to step into the political and woke arena in an April 4th article. In every single example of a league or a company ‘going woke’, those organizations and corporations have alienated and lost their viewers/consumers in large scale. There seems to be an arrogance with these professional sports leagues and their sponsoring companies (Coca-Cola, Nike, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, Audi, and so on). In the case of the MLB, it has become clear that its commissioner and corporate sponsors could care less about the consequences of their left-leaning, pro-CCP, genocide-tolerant, and woke biases as their actions against half the nation are done with an air of smugness, contempt, and disregard for anything American and anything traditional.
In what was nothing less than an utter ‘progressive temper tantrum’ by Commissioner Manfred, the MLB made the decision to ditch Atlanta (and all Georgians) as the host of the MLB All-Star Game in favor of Denver, Colorado (one of America’s whitest cities in a state with voting requirements far stricter than those found in Georgia – go figure!). In summary, Manfred ‘stole’ the MLB All-Star Game from Georgians simply because Georgia is a Republican State. At the same time, MLB threw in with its Democrat-aligned corporate sponsors to please the wishes and demands of the CCP genocidal regime (and their favorite anti-American puppet Joe Biden) – the CCP is openly delighted with the league commissioner’s decision to abandon the interests of half of the American population and fall further in line with the interests of the CCP.
Over the past month, Republicans (who were formerly the league’s biggest supporters) voted with their feet and their eyes as they have seen ‘America’s favorite pastime’ poisoned with a deadly mix of leftist politics, corporate ‘wokeness’, and pro-CCP preferences/partnering. The end result? Baseball fans are tuning out in record numbers.
According to Trending Politics, the sharp decline in attendance has been captured in a poll conducted by Morning Consult,
“Republican favorability toward Major League Baseball has collapsed by a stunning 35% in only one month. It plummeted further to a dismal 12% as the league’s brand took a major hit. New data from Morning Consult Brand Intelligence, which tracks consumer attitudes, indicates that MLB’s net favorability rating among Republicans plummeted from 47 percentage points in mid-March to just 12 points at the end of last week, following the league’s decision to relocate its All-Star events. Morning Consult calculates net favorability by taking the difference between the share of respondents with a positive opinion of the league and the share with a negative opinion”. Baseball had managed to stay out of politics until last summer. Prior to their decision to jump on the BLM post-Floyd bandwagon, “the MLB had the highest net favorability rating among Republicans of the four major sports leagues before the All-Star Game decision, but last week dropped below that of both the NHL and NFL”. The relocation of the All-Star Game has become a massive mistake in terms of negative public relations. It was quickly discovered that the move has only served to punish Georgia businesses and workers (many of them black) who were counting on the event’s economic benefits. The optics problem associated with Manfred’s disastrous decision was compounded by the fact that the new site for the MLB All-Star Game (Denver, Colorado) is overwhelmingly white and has stricter voting laws than Georgia does. The status of the MLB’s treasured antitrust exemption is now in jeopardy as GOP Senators led by Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Josh Hawley have aggressively come out against league commissioner Manfred, the MLB’s monopoly, and their full embrace of 'woke' liberal politics.
As the MLB follows in the failed anti-American tracks of other professional leagues like the NFL and the NBA, it appears that these leagues are prepared to leave behind half the American population in the name of progressivism, corporate ‘wokism’, reverse-racism, and pro-CCP allegiance. There is only one acceptable response, and it appears that Americans are expressing it based on the favorability polling data: continue to boycott the MLB and any of their corporate sponsors.
