Tulsi Gabbard Scorches Democrat Party For "Leading Us to the Brink of Nuclear War"

July 3, 2023 (Updated): Former Representative and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) thundered against the state of the modern Democratic party. On Twitter she called out the party’s leadership as being led by “cowardly warmongers who are firmly in the grips of the military industrial complex, and don’t know or care about the cost of war, or who pays the price.” She mentioned that the party has led the country in turn “to the brink of nuclear war.” The full speech can be watched in her tweet below.

In that clip, Gabbard stated that “we are faced with the reality now that President Biden’s actions and policies have pushed us to the brink of nuclear war.” She continued by saying that “this is an existential crisis not only for us here [in the United States] but [for] the world.”

“This proxy war against Russia using the Ukrainian peoples lives continues to escalate. We are hearing more talks of NATO countries who want to send troops into Ukraine which will only increase the likelihood of a direct confrontation between the United States and NATO countries [on the one side] and Russia [on the other],” she said.

The Aloha State politico added that Russia is “the most nuclear armed country in the world. Now if you hear President Biden or his administration or any of the so-called pundits on TV talk about this, they talk about World War Three and nuclear war as though it’s just another war. Just another conflict. Just another thing we do this- they do that- blah blah blah and then we win.”

She warned that “what is scary about this is that it is so far removed from reality. They are not being honest. Maybe [they are] with themselves but they are certainly not being honest with the American people about what the cost and consequences of these wars would look like.”

The Hawaii politician then evoked Ronald Reagan’s , a Republican president, comments about nuclear war. She cited his famous dictum that “nuclear war can never be won and should never be fought.” She observed that “he [Reagan] was right when he said those words and he is still right today but the elite don’t care. They don’t care because they have got bunkers, they got places they can go where they know they will be safe and they have got no problem leaving the rest of us who don’t have those things… to perish.”

Gabbard said that the American public needs to stand up to the “cowardly warmongering politicians who exist in both parties now.”
